I am in the throes of rewrites for my 5th novel. It is amazing how one can finish with a sense of accomplishment, then slip into depression and dismay as they are reading through that accomplishment. I will admit that I like it, and will eventually publish it. I have found the voice, and purpose of this book, its intention and its obstacles. But, I will also admit that I spend most of my time thinking, "this is pure shit!" I hope to have dusted that excrement off, and polished it to a fine sheen before I release it. I am so sorry for the delays.
Incidentally, I should note, it is not the 4th Mystics book. That one is giving me problems of direction. It is also not the 2nd Kelvin book, that one only has an idea and vague outline. I don't have a story for that yet. This is something new, something unusual for me. It is not contemporary fantasy, it is just regular fantasy. I tried my hand at world-building and I think it is pretty good (if I may say so myself).
Lastly, if you are an author, you should really read Stephen King's "On Writing: a memoir of the craft". I have been reading it again, and it is soul-affirming. This isn't a very interesting blog post, but my head is foggy from rewrites, and I just wanted to reach out and say, "I am still here!"
Love you all! Hope you like the work when it is finished!
